My name is Katie and I am currently 28 years of age. I love to grow, make and cook things and nothing makes me happier then sitting in my allotment shed with a cup of tea and enjoying the view. I have had my very own allotment since July 2013 and there is still lots to do.
Homegrown Garden
Hello, I'm Katrina! My gardening videos come to you from St Ann's Allotments in Nottingham, UK which is thought to be the oldest and biggest site in Europe! I grow a wide range of fruits, vegetables and flowers on my enclosed 300 square meter plot. I live in a city flat so I don't have a garden of my own which is why I have developed my allotment to have lots of flowers and shrubs, to make it feel like a garden of my own with lots of habitats for the wildlife too.

We are the Contreras family, Jason, Lorraine & Penelope. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life to live our passions and grow food! We became passionate about what we put into our bodies and how to care for our bodies after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our dream.

Gardening is my passion, and growing Food Forests is my specialty. I go beyond organic gardening and work with nature rather then against it. Gardening doesn't have to be hard, and you don't have to be a servant to the garden. I can help you too create a gardening system that works with you and for you rather then you working for it. I use No pesticides, No herbicides. No fungicides, No growth hormones, No antibiotics, and No fertilizers. I allow nature to be the teacher and mimic the natural forest model to create an ideal living environment for all living things. I know their aren't a lot of people who are super excited about growing their own food, but at a time when GMO's and pesticide laden foods are causing so many health problems, I am standing in the gap showing others there is a different, and a better way!
The Hollar Homestead
In 2017 we realized that being stuck in the rat race wasn't getting us anywhere - and definitely not anywhere HAPPY. So, we're trading in "normal" for making our own path. After suburban homesteading in Southern California for a few years, we've sold most of our "stuff", packed up the rest into a travel trailer, traveled the United States with our four kids to find our forever homestead, and are now revitalizing an old homestead in North Carolina! We live small, love hard, and have one major goal - to LIVE a life worth living.
